Mounting of ODU’s is critically important to avoid the beam “wandering” and interruption of the link.  A small movement of the ODU will of course equate to a large deflection of the bean at 1 or 2km distance.

A very important part of the site survey, is the physical placing of the ODU's.  They must be attached to a solid stable structure to avoid "wandering" of the beam and interruption of the link.  All PAV brackets are designed to withstand wind gusts of up to 150Mph.  A range of standard mounting brackets are available from PAV as detailed below:

Wall Mounting

Designed to fix to vertical walls, brick or corrugated tin, using Rawl bolts (8mm), or threaded bar.  They can be mounted on a flat wall face, or internal to a parapet wall, aimed over the top.  If mounted on corrugated tin, ensure that there is very little movement, when mounted.  Some strengthening may be needed.

Plinth Mounting

To fix to plinth walls or shallow, corrugated tin roofs.  Again, ensure the roof is stable.

If mounting on a flat roof, ensure that the roof does not flex as technicians pass across the roof.

Pole Mounting

Pole mounting brackets should be mounted on a pole no less than 4 inch or 100mm diameter, and then should be placed no more than 2m above the last fixing point.

The mount is secured to the pole by means of "D" bolts.

Concrete Plinth

Designed to work where the fabric of the building cannot be pierced by bolts etc.  A metal tray, with an upright pole of various lengths can be specified.  The tray is then filled with "ready- mix" concrete to secure.  Special brackets may be commissioned by PAV if adequate dimensions can be provided of the bracket that is required. The units must be mounted securely as movement may affect the operation of the units once they are installed.  Please contact PAV for more information.
